The development of silver
nanoparticles in the area of food is very important, since they are used in
the manufacture of paper containers, because they have antimicrobial
properties, which favors the preservation of food for a longer time. Its
development has been so great that it is expected that one day it will be
considered a nutritional supplement.

The reason why I chose this topic is because I get a lot of attention, it is also an innovative topic in the area of food (just discovered in 2003 and with the name “nanofoods”) since these particles were known only in the area of textiles and electronics. However, being honest, I knew this type of particle through news, but only today I knew that it had a strong impact on food.
The future of these particles is huge,
since as they investigate their characteristics, the areas where they can
develop will be greater.
One of the great disadvantages of using silver is introduced into the environment, since the waste generated by these containers falls to the environment, which causes other species to absorb silver easily, creating a problem in the ecosystem.

The dilemma that is generated with the development of this technology, is that silver is toxic to the human body, however these nanoparticles provide a very low dose that does not become toxic or harmful to health, however many people they oppose the development of this technology in food.
